Enactment of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution is alike issuing a death warrant to the Sinhalese, Venerable Medagoda Abayathissa Thero said on Monday (27).
The observation was made at a press conference held this afternoon.
“Implementation of the 19th Amendment is not just a political aspect, but something related to the human rights of the people,” Abayathissa Thero said.
The Thero alleged that the amendment has given more space to address the issues faced by the minorities, but not the Sinhalese.
“Thus, this is a serious violation of Sinhalese’s human rights. The 19th Amendment must be defeated,” Abayathissa Thero added.
